ABOUT

The University of Alberta Muslim Students’ Association was founded in 1982 to satisfy the spiritual, material, and social needs of students on campus in accordance with the teachings of Islam and sunnah.


We accommodate the needs of Muslim students at the University of Alberta as well as throughout Edmonton while promoting awareness and understanding of Islam to the university community and the general public. Our activities include:

 

  •   Scheduling locations for the five Daily Prayers
  •   Hosting Jumu’ah Prayers (Friday congregational) on campus for more than 300 people weekly
  •   Ramadan Iftars
  •   M'Orientation (Orientation for new Muslim students to the university campus)
  •   Welcome-Back Dinner/Barbecue for New and Returning U of A Students
  •   Weekly Halaqaat (Islamic learning circles) Each Semester
  •   “Monthly Series” Lecture Seminars
  •   Youth Social Events and Activities – Barbecues, Game Nights, Paint Nights etc.
  •   Seerah Competitions
  •   Charity Fundraisers
  •   Da’wah Booths
  •   Quran Buddies
  •   Annual Salam Week (formerly Islam Awareness Week)
  •   Mental Health Workshops
  •   Elk Island Trips
